I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. Enable curl

I'm trying to test some features of curl, but it seems that curl is not enabled in most of the php builds.

  2. Publish rate-limiting criteria

I can't use 3v4l from my office anymore, and I suspect it's due to high usage among my coworkers. I'd at least appreciate a formal acknowledgement of rate limiting, if not also a method to request or purchase a whitelisting.

  7. HHVM in php 5 mode

For HHVM please don't only enable php 7 mode. It's important to test against both php5mode and php7 mode since php 7 mode is still really new and less tested than the default php 5 mode. There are type annotations on internal functions issues with php7 mode currently https://github.com/facebook/hhvm/issues/7198.

In my testing on travis CI I use latest HHVM and the most recent LTS to get 4 builds
So currently I have 2 LTS versions (until 3.16 is released)
    - 3.15LTS (php 5 mode)
    - 3.15LTS (php 7 mode)
    - 3.12LTS (php 5 mode)
    - 3.12LTS (php 7 mode)

  10. Add HTTP request support

It would be useful for many to be able to fake an incoming HTTP request to said script.

I can't honestly say how easy it would be to implement, sorry.

  11. Stop trimming ending whitespace

This fails because the empty line after EOT heredoc delimiter is trimmed.

  13. Allow larger script bodies

I have a script of 1 MiB. Would be great to be able to run that, or at least something around 0.5 MiB.

The point isn't that it can be made smaller, that can be done, however it's an extra step and less convenient when I want to run the thing as fast as possible.

  14. compare performance of 2 snippets (across php/hhvm versions)

like possible with performance profiles on blackfire.io it would be great to have a comparison view between 2 snippets

    e.g.
    http://3v4l.org/SEW7E/perf#tabs
    vs
    http://3v4l.org/2hdIf/perf#tabs

  15. Run HHVM both with and without the JIT on

HHVM's JIT can be enabled or disabled with -vEval.Jit=true or -vEval.Jit=false, respectively. Could you run each hhvm version twice, once with and once without the JIT on? Any behavioral differences between the two modes are bugs and this would make them more obvious.

  17. Run HHVM as a server

If you spin up HHVM as a fastcgi server and issue requests to it by doing HTTP GETS for the files in /in/ you would see huge perf wins hopefully. It'll save all the command line warmup.

Your server will probably grow unbounded in memory and have to be killed but as long as you have a good restarter it should work. This is how we do unit testing and it sped us up from 10 mins to 1 min.

  18. Total time on perf tab

Would be great to have a column showing the total time consumed, aka sys-time+usr-time

  19. Add PHP/FI 2.0 as an optional version

It's the very first version of PHP you could really call PHP. It wouldn't be terribly useful, mind, but it would certainly be interesting for historical reasons.
