  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

    I'm sure the community would absolutely love to help out. I know I would.

  2. compare performance of 2 snippets (across php/hhvm versions)

    like possible with performance profiles on blackfire.io it would be great to have a comparison view between 2 snippets

    e.g.
    http://3v4l.org/SEW7E/perf#tabs
    vs
    http://3v4l.org/2hdIf/perf#tabs

  3. Possibility to delete my snippet

    I would love to see an option to delete my snippet. Sometimes I do not want to share my bad code ;)

  4. Python equivalent of 3v4l

    Probably a crazy idea that PHP developpers won't care much about but I'd love to be able to run and compare snippets of Python on all the versions/with various interpreters so a 3v4l equivalent for Python would be awesome!

    Among the main implementations : CPython, PyPy, IronPython, Jython.

    As a side-note, if you find this using google, tox is useful to run code on various versions of Python but you obviously need to have them installed.

  6. Explicitely list which php modules are available

    It seems php-ldap is not available, some other topic suggests that curl is unavailable as well.
    It would be clearer if you had a list of available php module in the about page.
    Maybe just show a link to the phpinfo() result for each build?

  7. HHVM in php 5 mode

    For HHVM please don't only enable php 7 mode. It's important to test against both php5mode and php7 mode since php 7 mode is still really new and less tested than the default php 5 mode. There are type annotations on internal functions issues with php7 mode currently https://github.com/facebook/hhvm/issues/7198.

    In my testing on travis CI I use latest HHVM and the most recent LTS to get 4 builds
    So currently I have 2 LTS versions (until 3.16 is released)
    - 3.15LTS (php 5 mode)
    - 3.15LTS (php 7 mode)
    - 3.12LTS (php 5 mode)
    - 3.12LTS (php 7 mode)

  8. introduce a premium subscription

    to keep this site running and be able to keep introducing features, it might be nice to generate some income. We should find out if there is any interest for that.

    Possible features:

    * user-accounts, show script submitter
    * (rest) API
    ** /raw for raw input
    * favorites
    * private scripts
    * access to PHP nightly build
    * xdebug dumps
    * notifications for changes in output
    * tag output as valid / is-bug

  10. Run HHVM both with and without the JIT on

    HHVM's JIT can be enabled or disabled with -vEval.Jit=true or -vEval.Jit=false, respectively. Could you run each hhvm version twice, once with and once without the JIT on? Any behavioral differences between the two modes are bugs and this would make them more obvious.

  11. Add PHP/FI 2.0 as an optional version

    It's the very first version of PHP you could really call PHP. It wouldn't be terribly useful, mind, but it would certainly be interesting for historical reasons.

  12. Add the same versions for different OSs

    Different PHP versions may have different output, but it would be very interesting to know the different outputs for the same (and different) PHP version on different operating systems.

    This code, for example, behaves very differently on some earlier PHP versions on Windows, but it's been the same since the NAN constant was intruduced on Linux:

    <?php

    print "is_numeric(NAN) ? " . (is_numeric(NAN) ? "true\n" : "false\n");
    print "NAN == 0 ? " . (NAN == 0 ? "true\n" : "false\n");
    print "NAN == 1 ? " . (NAN == 1 ? "true\n" : "false\n");
    print "NAN === 0 ?…

  13. Would be great to have a compare option

    Would be great to have a compare option where we can have two different scripts for same job to compare all the details, versions, eft, etc.

  14. Run HHVM as a server

    If you spin up HHVM as a fastcgi server and issue requests to it by doing HTTP GETS for the files in /in/ you would see huge perf wins hopefully. It'll save all the command line warmup.

    Your server will probably grow unbounded in memory and have to be killed but as long as you have a good restarter it should work. This is how we do unit testing and it sped us up from 10 mins to 1 min.

  16. Stop trimming ending whitespace

    This fails because the empty line after EOT heredoc delimiter is trimmed.

  17. Please provide a build of the current master (pre-alpha / weekly build / upcoming version)

    I suggest building the current master regularly and providing it as "PHP unstable", "PHP nightly", "PHP next" or similar.

    Being able to use the upcoming version of PHP with the ease and shareability of 3v4l would be great.

    Both for me personally but also for the community. Edge cases of new features and reproducible crashes could be discovered earlier.

  19. Add a "stop" button, which stops the evaluation of the script

    Add a "stop" button, which stops the evaluation of the script.

    It happens quite often to me, that I click "eval", then realize I made a mistake somewhere (I can see this thanks to the very first php version tested), and want to quickly modfiy and re-evaluate.

    But I can't, I have to wait until the script will be tested against all the php versions, so the "eval" button will be enabled again.

    Like, right now I mistakenly did a sleep(1); in a loooong loop :)

    Thanks for posting. Did you ever consider using the preview button instead? It runs your code in a single version which is a lot quicker. Your ‘sleep’ script will be killed anyway because it takes too long – but I’ll put this on the list of possible features.

    Thanks,
    Sjon

  20. Add GD support for PHP>=7

    All PHP versions since 7.0.0 have disabled the GD extension:
    https://3v4l.org/62A9j (this tests corrupted JPEG file which always crashes the GD)
